Story Times in the Parks Meet us in the parks for story times geared to young children, weather permitting. Story Times move to the library when the air quality is poor, or it rains or feels hotter than 90F, but space will be limited. Check the Event Calendar the evening before whenever you're unsure whether we will meet at a park or at the library. You can also call us at 513-398-2711 the morning of. Siblings of any age are always welcome. We will have Live Animals visiting 6/6 and 6/9 story times! Drop in. No registration required.

Story Times in the Library 

Tickets for indoor programs are released 15 minutes prior to start, first come, first served. Line up near the children's DVD's. Children must be present to receive a ticket.

All Ages Family Story Time Tuesdays @ 7:00 -- Children of all ages are invited to join our children's librarians for an interactive session of stories, songs, and takehome crafts. This summer we are learning about friendship, community, and things we do together! Parents should plan to attend with younger children to help with participation. Drop in. 

Preschool SOLO Story Time Thursdays @ 10:10 -  This event is only suitable for children ages 3 to 5 who are ready to sit alone without their grownup in the room as we work learning classroom skills and etiquette. Adults remain nearby, but outside the classroom. Space is limited and first come, first served. 20 spots available. Tickets will be released @10, first come, first served. Line up near the children's DVD's. Children must be present to receive a ticket. Children who are almost, but not *quite* ready to go in solo are able to watch how it works through the glass door or attend Story Time @ the parks. Children who go in, but are still unsure, are able to see their grown-up waiting for them nearby. 

STEAM Story Time for Elementary Children, entering Grades K-6 only.  Attendance is drop in, first come, first served, starting 15 minutes before class. We will have supplies for at least 36 children per session each week. Each class is designed to include science, stories, art, and music. Some weeks there may also be math, dance, games, or a special guest. This class is led by Ms. Cheryl and Jess with several teen volunteers. The weeks are independent of each other. Tickets for indoor programs are released 15 minutes prior to start, first come, first served. Line up near the children's DVD's. Children must be present to receive a ticket. Parents remain outside the classroom and meet Ms. Cheryl in the lobby at x:45 to hear what the children have learned that week then enter the classroom to see the last few minutes. Parents must remain on the library's premises during class.

  • entering Grades K-2: Wednesdays 2-2:45ish p.m.– at the library
  • entering Grades 3-6: Thursdays 1--1:45ish p.m.– at the library
  • entering Grades 3-6: Thursdays 3-3:45ish p.m – at the library

  1. June 7/8: how a building is planned and built, coloring a cardstock city to display in the library
  2. June 14/15: kindness and social bullying, how to be a good friend, braiding friendship bracelets
  3. June 21/22: honeybees, measuring, racing toy bees down a zipline
  4. June 28/29: native vs. invasive species, painting flower pots and starting seeds for a pollinator garden
  5. July 5/6: how can we help animals around us: no sew blankets
  6. July 12-13: working in a group: balloon tower, quidditch relay, bean bag games
  7. July 19:20:  crosslinking and polymers: making slime, solving a giant crossword together, playing Knot Doctor game

  • Thursday 6/22 7-9 @ Kingswood Park's pavilion RAIN OR SHINE! -- Meet the Bees: Stories, crafts, and more: Meet a beekeeper with a traveling hive. Try on a beekeeping suit! Enjoy the pollinator walk. Tattoos, stickers, community art hive, crafts, and more.
  • Saturday 7/15 2-3 @ Mason Community Center's Fieldhouse gym, court #1 -- Lego Block Party: Drop in to play with Legos and build with friends.
  • Friday 7/28 1:30 @ MHS small gym, Athletic Entrance -- Grand Finale: Will we call your name? Ms. Cheryl and Jess draw the grand prize winners for summer reading. (You don't need to attend to win, but we hope you will!) Enjoy storytelling, songs, and collect takehome craft kits. :-)
